With its 24-hour casino gambling, legalized prostitution and drive-through wedding chapels, Nevada seems anything but conventional. When it comes to voting in presidential elections, it's as mainstream as it gets.

My school's Dean of Students outed a girl to her parents.
Provided by: reddit.com16902012-02-04 02:51:28buzz / reddit.com /

Today at school, a lesbian couple (possibly sophomores, but certainly at least underclassmen) were "caught" kissing in the hallways by our Dean. Our Dean routinely witnesses straight couples making out in said hallways, but has yet to write up a single one.

Not only did he write up the lesbian couple, he--despite the pleading of one of the girls--called their parents and explained what had happened. The girl who had been begging the Dean not to call had in actuality not told her parents of her sexual orientation, and despite being made aware of this fact, the Dean proceeded to make that call and out her.

My question is this: is there any kind of legal action that can be taken against the Dean? Is there any group (such as the ACLU) that could be notified for potential further action? Could my school's district be informed to then take appropriate measures, if there are any?

I know plenty of school officials have had to resign over discrimination and specifically homophobic conduct; I personally cannot see why such a thing is not warranted in this case.

EDIT: This is high school, sorry if I didn't make that clear.

UPDATE: The girl's parents grounded her, whether it was for the revelation or the alleged "extreme PDA" as the Dean is now calling it is as of yet unknown. The Dean has also called for some kind of meeting to take place on Monday, open to anyone who wants to go, to discuss the incident. Rumors coming in about our school cop's involvement in the incident, but I've yet to get anything solid on that.
