Edit:A little context, I'm an Ethiopian-American who hasn't celebrated the day with our usual barbecue/picnic for 9 years. I just felt redditors would like to know about it. A little addition, we haven't celebrated on the day for 9 years. For the last few years we have had small dinners and picnics a few days/weeks before.
Edit 2: Looks like Californian-Ethiopians have resumed their celebrations, albeit a week before. Berkeley is hosting, here's the link.
