Trials Evolution sales reach 500,000 in three weeks

Outstanding Xbox Live Arcade game Trials Evolution has motored to 500,000 sales in three weeks, publisher Ubisoft has revealed.

The game temporarily held the one-day XBLA sales record - and would continue to be a record breaker now it it weren't for the colossal arrival of Minecraft on Xbox 360.

Minecraft XBLA broke one million sales in one week.

Lost Planet 3 spin-off EX Troopers announced for PS3, Nintendo 3DS

Capcom has announced EX Troopers, a Lost Planet 3 spin-off for PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS.

Japanese magazine Famitsu (via Andriasang) describes EX Troopers as an action shooting game being developed by Shintaro Kojima of the Monster Hunter series.

EX Troopers shares the same world view as Lost Planet, but carries an anime visual style and a school themed story. It's about the fight between the snow pirates and Akrid aliens on EDN-3rd. You play Bren Turner, an academy graduate from EDN-2nd.

For Diablo 3 gamer Francis, Error 37 is the last straw

Error 37. Error 3007. Error 315300. The launch of Blizzard's long-awaited Diablo 3 was marred by a day of server problems and at least one game-breaking bug, forcing gamers to wait up to 24 hours to play a game they had legitimately paid for.

Player frustration grew as thousands struggled to log on. Some had waited in line at the game's midnight launches, queuing hours to secure their copy.

The disappointment and anger grew too much for some, not least YouTube user Francis, who vented his rage at Blizzard in the YouTube clip below.

NUads won't use data captured by Kinect for advertising purposes, Microsoft insists

NUads will not use data captured by Kinect for advertising purposes, Microsoft has insisted.

Natural user interface ads (NUads), which launches in late spring, uses Kinect to make ads interactive, and thus encourage people to watch them rather than skip them. Microsoft predicts a revolution in advertising.

But some are concerned about privacy issues because NUads uses Kinect to record and compile biometric data on users.

Volition developer lists Saints Row 4 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360

A LinkedIn profile for a Volition Inc. developer (spotted by Superannuation) has revealed Saints Row 4 is in development for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This is in addition to the already announced Saints Row: The Third standalone expansion Enter the Dominatrix.

The profile also mentions an unannounced THQ Xbox Live Arcade game as "current".

THQ delays South Park: The Game, ditches Devil's Third

THQ has delayed South Park: The Game to the fourth quarter of its 2013 financial year.

That is, it will now launch at some point from the beginning of January to the end of March 2013. It had been due out this year.

South Park: The Game is an action RPG developed by Fallout: New Vegas maker Obsidian Entertainment. Its visual style is lifted straight out of the TV series, and there are character classes and turn-based combat.

Mass Effect 3 Rebellion DLC details leak

The next slice of Mass Effect 3 DLC will be named Rebellion, Sony's Hong Kong website has revealed.

Rebellion will be the second expansion for the game's multiplayer modes, following last month's Resurgance Pack.

Sony's now-removed listing for the DLC (spotted by Kotaku) detailed its contents: two new maps, three new weapons and six fresh character classes.

The Last of Us trailer reveals Ellie redesign

A new trailer full of The Last of Us footage has revealed a slightly changed look for lead character Ellie.

The changes are subtle but noticeable. Once heavily modelled on Juno actress Ellen Page, the new Ellie has now lost her freckles and gained a different shaped nose.

The fresh scenes see Ellie and accomplice Joel encounter another survivor, who turns out to be less than friendly.
