technology / blog.wired.com/gadgets/ / - The iPhone gets all the hype, but the iPod Touch is Apple’s second weapon of mass consumption constituting nearly 40 percent of the company’s mobile device sales, according to a report. We've heard about Palm's big plans for webOS 2.0 -- heck, we've even seen a handful of pictures here or there. And now we've been graced with lots, lots more. We're still not sure the exact origins, as they both came to us unsourced at around the same time. But, be it PreCentral forums or Chinese site Crooked neck (a.k.a. Wibozi), we're still graced with two dozen new screenshots that showcase features beyond Stacks and Just Type. Plenty of extra services are on display, including favorites like Dropbox and head-scratchers like MobileMe (we know Palm has something of an Apple complex, but the benefits of MobileMe are pretty minimal beyond iPhone integration). There's also default app selection for filetypes, which is a welcome addition we've enjoyed on our Android sets. Just in case all the screenshots go poof, we've got them in a gallery below. Let your imagination run wild, or at least in a bigger fence.

technology / digg.com / - Over the weekend, we noticed Craiglist had replaced a certain notorious section of its site with a black bar reading censored.A longtime and well-known digital resource for prostitutes and the people who engage their services, Craigslist has come under fire many times over the past few years for its erotic/adult classified ads. Craigslist has stated it does everything it can to comply with government and legal stipulations and has an attorney manually screen all of its Adult Services ads. The company once said that 700,000 ads were manually rejected in just one year.Still, this hasnt stopped sex trafficking on the site, nor has it stopped the site from coming under harsh criticism for its business. In a recent poll, we asked if you thought Craigslists Adult Services section should be censored. Here are the results. Our readers are surprisingly liberal-minded about the Adult Services section. The vast majority of you (71.37%) said you thought the site should not be censored for a variety of reasons:Among our readers who thought the site should be censored, two-thirds found the Adult Services section objectionable because they felt it allowed Craigslist to profit indirectly from prostitution.Of those who thought the site and the adult sections should remain uncensored, almost half of you (46.15%) felt the censorship was unwarranted because prostitution should not be illegal in the first place. These broad-minded folks comprise almost 33% of everyone who voted in the poll.Others who were against the censorship in this case thought that Craigslists anti-prostitution policies were sufficient or stated another reason for opposing Adult Services censorship. As of this moment, were not sure if or when the sites adult section will be back online or why it was taken down in the first place. While prostitution isnt likely to become legal in the U.S. any time soon, well keep you posted on Craigslists dilemma as more details become available.More About: censorship, craigslist, prostitution, sexFor more Social Media coverage:Follow Mashable Social Media on TwitterBecome a Fan on FacebookSubscribe to the Social Media channelDownload our free apps for iPhone and iPad

technology / digg.com / - I’m on Facebook. And I don’t want to be. But let’s face it. Anything Facebook does, another web service somewhere does better. But that’s not the point – the point is that Facebook is the default. Everyone is on Facebook because everyone is on Facebook. It’s a business model based on tautology.

Rumors of an update to Apple's iLife '09 suite have been going around for a while now, and it turns out that Amazon has accidentally spilled the beans on the update by listing the iLife '11 Family Pack online for $99. According to Amazon's listing, the item will be available in 2-4 weeks. The listing has since been pulled, which actually just serves to fuel the fire that we'll be seeing iLife '11 released in the next month or so, certainly good news for Apple fans out there.

Remember the Samsung Gem that was listed in the Best Buy buyers guide a few days back? It was originally listed as "coming soon", giving us some hope that we'd be able to check out the phone soon. Now Best Buy has issued a little statement, claiming that it made a mistake and that there is no official launch date for the Samsung Gem just yet. Nothing else about the phone is mentioned, so it looks like we'll have to go back to waiting for another leak.

RIM has yet to officially announce the upcoming Style 9670 flip, but the leakfest continues today with a handful of new videos -- professionally-produced ones this time -- that show off key features of the UI and how to use them. Unlike the Torch, the Style lacks a touchscreen -- it just wouldn't be prudent in a clamshell form factor -- which means we're seeing just what it's like to navigate the finer points of BlackBerry 6's user interface with an optical pad (and secondary display) alone on a larger, portrait-oriented display. We're hopeful that RIM's new platform has a certain... well, a certain "something" on non-touchscreen devices that the Torch lacks, but time will tell, we suppose. Follow the break for the full video series.
